After a deadly mass shooting at a Texas church, the Texas Attorney General has said American Christians should arm themselves when they go to church.
Republican Ken Paxton said churches should consider “arming some of the parishioners” or hiring security.
His comments come after 26 people were shot and killed at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
“It’s going to happen again,” Paxton said.
‘We’ve had shootings in churches for, you know, for forever. It’s going to happen again, and so we need people in churches, professional security or at least arming some of the parishioner or the congregation so they can respond if something like this – when something like this happens again.”
Texas law says that churchgoers may carry a concealed weapon into worship centers unless the church specifically forbids it.
President Donald Trump also issued a statement after the shooting, saying that the killings were because of the shooter’s “mental health problems” and not a “guns situation.”
Former President Barack Obama released a statement on Twitter, saying that he hoped the country would take steps to prevent these kind of attacks.
“We grieve with all the families in Sutherland Springs harmed by this act of hatred, and we’ll stand with the survivors as they recover… May God also grant all of us the wisdom to ask what…
WHAT DO YOU THINK?- We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
What is your response?
If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
